Our Projects

For our first project in Gambia we undertook the task of constructing a Community Centre in the village of Marakissa. The construction of the centre began in 2007. As the first major project for the foundation we have involved all areas of the community in the building of the centre and look forward to an official opening in 2010.

Our second project is a partnership with the KGH Sports Academy. The ERASE Foundation have donated kits and sports equipment to the members of the footballing academy. As partners with the KGH Sports Academy we have encouraged self reliance and empowerment. All the members of the academy give back to the community by taking part in the government initiative 'Operation Clean The Nation'(Set Settal) as well as other local community development projects including the KGH Community Farm.
We have also started up another academy in the village of Marakissa with the same principles involved where some land for the community farm has been allocated by the Alkalo (Mayor) in Marakissa.

The Sailema Free Nursery (click the link to see pictures) is the third major project for the ERASE Foundation. The nursery will provide free pre-school education for 50 children aged 3-5 years old. The foundation is currently constructing the school building in the village of Sukuta Sanchaba with the assistance of the locals. Friends of ERASE will sponsor the training of the teaching staff as well as their yearly salaries. This project will be ready to handover to the teachers and pupils in May 2010.
UPDATE....................
On 27 May 2010, ERASE handed over our first school project, The Sailema Free Nursery School to 54 children, their 2 teachers and 2 teaching assistants. This was a big day in our history and a very proud one for all concerned. The event was well turned out with several members from ERASE travelling over for the grand opening. The opening was covered by 2 of Gambia's national newspapers, TODAY and THE OBSERVER.

We are now preparing our second container to be shipped, which we have been collecting and storing items for schools for the past year. We are hoping to ship the container by the end of the year.
